Iran produces high-quality animation: ‘The Mobarak’ director

Iran’s first live-acted animated movie proves the country can produce high-quality animations, ‘The Mobarak’ director says to ifilm.

Iran’s first live-action animated movie proves the country can produce high-quality animations, ‘The Mobarak’ director says in an exclusive interview with ifilm.

"I wanted to show the ability and talent of Iranian artists in special effects and animation" by making such animation, Mohammad-Reza Najafi-Emami said, adding, “People asked me why I wanted to be a director in the animation industry, and my only answer is that I wanted to show that we can make projects in Iran which can be compared to Hollywood productions.”

Making and producing animated movies are very costly in the private sector, so it was mainly a matter of passion for both the director and his brother, Ali Najafi-Emami, who produced the project, to make this animated film.

‘The Mobarak’ tells the story of mythical characters taken from Persian poet Ferdowsi’s ‘Shahnameh’ (Book of Kings). Elnaz Shakerdoust is a lead star of the movie.
